What is love to me?

Love to me is, and should be unconditional. Love is abundant. Love is endless. Love should come from within. We can experience glimmers and glimpses of love here and there in our lifetime from places and people, but the greatest most unconditional love comes from within in my experience. My life only started to change when I realized that love can come from within and that I didn’t need external love and validation to fulfill me. They say that your love language is the love you didn’t receive the most growing up. Growing up with unaffectionate parents, words of affirmation became my number one love language. I was desperate for any kind of affectionate words a stranger, friend, or partner could give me. But that desperation stopped when I realized, wow, I can give it to myself. I could tell myself I was beautiful. I could tell myself I was loved because I love me. Love is like a flowing fountain of water. I think of this abundant love as a fountain, always flowing, but only abundant when it is powered by electricity, and that electricity is YOU. It doesn’t and shouldn’t take much for you to love you, but what it does take is the decision, the CHOICE to love you. Sometimes, all it takes is one mindset to change your entire life, and that mindset for me was that I deserve to love myself. I deserve to be a bit selfish sometimes. I deserve to put myself as a priority sometimes, most of the time actually because this is my life and if I’m not the main character or the most important person in my life, then am I really living MY life? You only have ONE life, ONE LIFETIME, ONE PERSON that is always going to be there WITH you this entire life and that is YOU. So the most important
relationship you have to cultivate is the one with you. You have to love you. Once you love yourself unconditionally, your cup is full. You can then pour from an overflowing spring that never ends. You can only love others to the extent that you have loved yourself, so allow your spring, your cup, your fountain to be abundant so that you can gift others with your love, your character, your personality, and your presence. Love is such a beautiful gift to be shared in this one human experience we have.
